Piano by Daniel von der Embse

I was happy when you bought
the piano
although it was not meant for me
I was drawn to the possibility of beauty
when my hands entered the White Sea
and this sinewy lover belonged to me
Sometimes I improvised
a sound like god accidentally discovered

Playing for an audience – never
they could not comprehend the music:
supernatural rhythms brought in spaceships
songs wide and wild eventually syncopated
with the beating of hearts
All I could ever feel went into the piano
you bought – that I coveted
