Around 3 am every December 25th by Simon Anton Nino Diego Baena

When the fireworks are blown to smithereens,
when the raucous crowds have already gone to sleep,
when there is no longer any form of merriment,
when neither a single hush nor whisper is heard,
and in that moment, everything returns
to the gangrene wounds of our world.

Simon Anton Nino Diego Baena lives in the Philippines. Some of his works have already been published in The Camel SaloonRed River Review, Mascara literary review, Philippines Free Press, Philippines Grpahic magazine, Dead Snakes, Eastlit, and Kabisdak.
