STRIP CLUB by Richard Schnap

STRIP CLUB

It was a long, low room
With a spotlit stage
Surrounded by mirrors
And twinkling red lights

Upon it was a girl
With the face of a mannequin
Gyrating like a puppet
On invisible strings

Before her were men
Hidden in shadow
Faceless and silent
As if shadows themselves

And none of them knew
Her real, true name
The one thing she kept
Secret to herself

Richard Schnap is a poet, songwriter and collagist living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His poems have most recently appeared locally, nationally and overseas in a variety of print and online publications.
