Mortal by Angeline Lavelle

Is driving behind an ambulance
While two men frantically try to pump life
Into a covered human on a stretcher
As the sirens shriek
The red and blue lights
And white framing the scene
Pass at 80 m.p.h.
And are lost into the night.

Angeline Lavelle is a poet from the greater Pittsburgh area who has attended Seton Hill University, studying Creative Writing and Graphic Design.  She is currently an active member of the student theater organization and serving as the art editor for their art and literary magazine, Eye Contact.

  1. Really like the energy here. Left wondering what happened caused me to reread this short dynamic poem. A very fast narrative…so good.
