2 Poems by Chad Raynard

flowerpot

a flower pot office
tiny aphids in cubicles
paper gardens
digital teeth
nibble on company
mandated signatures
or office appropriate attire
nothing grows
from these muted colours
or dusty carpets
nothing truly moves
in these florescent
greenhouses
It’s only the slow
degradation
of the
heart

bedroom lanterns

we pass a smoking lantern across folds of floral pastels
the expanse a chiseled out valley of clay
alive with shaded projections
small battles fought quietly
the agony a soft whisper heard
in short breaths
