Principals of Human Astronomy by Constantine Mountrakis

There are people
who
like the light
of stars
long extinguished
radiate
away from me

I am left
with their redshifted images
in the night sky
that act
like an atlas of the past-
an approximation
Of the time
when their cores
weren’t cold.

But I am too far
to reignite
their pilot lights
