Connect I Cut by Audra M

my heart

two days
crisp morning
flick of my newspaper
6 obituaries with tiny
angelic faces
smiling back at me
black and white spinning
words
as I swallow
my morning cup o’ tar

acid
burn

traffic warnings
stay away from
highway east and west
backed up
curiosities, mourners and media
clogging up the bloodied arteries
of a small wayward town
a flooded State
of disarray

Streets and buildings
stained in the minds
of the living zombies
bustling off to life

guilt
shame
sadness

try to get the regular
rhythm, the beat

too much talk
too familiar
too exposed

I can’t shake it off
I don’t want to

but I don’t

want to feel so

  1. So sad… I can feel the heaviness in you poetry. ~sigh~ I’m glad you were able to share this with everyone. It’s no wonder you were chosen to be included in this online publication.
