PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW OUR GUIDELINES.

This makes everyone’s lives easier and will make us happier when we read your submission.

We welcome submissions of poetry, essay, short story, photography or photos of other visual artworks. All submissions should be made via email. Please include the word SUBMISSION and your last name in the subject line of your email. Do not include more than 3 pieces per submission, or in the case of a short story 1 piece per submission. Please include all written work in the body of the email, not as an attachment. Photos may be attached and should be in jpeg format.

You may submit ONCE a month. Please do not submit more often than this. We want to offer a diverse selection of writers and artists on the site and this is more difficult if we receive a large number of submissions from one writer/artist.

We are happy to receive simultaneous submissions, nor are there any problems with your work having been published elsewhere, but please let us know if this is the case.

We encourage all artists to include a bio for us to include on our writer/artist bio page, but it is not mandatory.

All artists retain sole copyright of their work. By submitting you are allowing The Blue Hour to publish it on this site.  We are also happy to link to personal blogs or stores where your work is being sold or featured.

You must be over 18 to submit.

At this time we cannot offer any form of payment for publications.

We are currently in the process of publishing our first print anthology! We are very excited about this and are both putting much of our time and effort into it. So please forgive us if our response times are a bit longer than usual.

Please do not send inquiry emails unless you haven’t received a response from us 2 full months after submitting. Inquiry emails just slow down our response times.

We will publish at least one item (poem, photo etc) per day, often times more.
